The company Umwelttechnik und Wasserbau GmbH was established in june 1990 as the successor of VEB Spezialbaukombinat Wasserbau, Kombinatsbetrieb Speicherbau Ostharz, in Blankenburg.
The enterprise was founded on 1 April 1964.
U&W offers services in particular in the following fields:
- Pipeline construction (water, gas and Iong-distance heating)
- Sewer construction
- Pipe and sewer repair and maintenance
- Sewage treatment plants and purification technology
- High-Ievel water tanks and water conditioning plants
- Storage tank construction
- Waste disposal facilities
- Special civil engineering
(piling, drill-foundation piles, sheeting and sheet piling works)
- Syphon construction
- Technical civil engineering and bridge building
- River diversion and water engineering
- Road construction
U&W is working mainly in eastern Germany, having main offices in Leipzig, Ermsleben, Jena and Magdeburg. lt has branch offices in Berlin, Brandenburg, Dessau, Dresden, Frankfurt/Main, Halberstadt, Halle, Kronach, Schkeuditz, Stendal, Torgau, Wernigerode and Zwickau, add. branch offices serving Plant engineering in Blankenburg and Plant engineering in Jena, as well as Repair and maintenance of existing pipelines in Ermsleben and Repair and maintenance of pipelines in Frankfurt/M.
Our group employs more than 800 persons and carries out building works of a value of EUR 80 million per year. We are working predominantly for clients from the public sector, but also buiid for the industry and private customers.
In cooperation with other building and plant engineering companies as well as engineering firms, we are able to adapt our tasks in a flexible and specific way to the requirements of the market.
Our aim is an objective and partnership cooperation with our clients and joint venture group partners, sub-contractors and suppliers.
U&W is operating upon the certified quality management system DIN EN ISO 9001:2000 granted by the TÜV Nord Cert GmbH Bremen. This quality management system documents the demonstrated high quality, reliability and adherence to delivery dates.
Our qualified, weII-trained employees of many years standing, in combination with the very extensive and technically optimally serviced machinery, guarantee that this standard is kept up and that all works are always in conformity with standards. We permanently offer places of vocational training for technical and commercial professions. At all times, more than 50 young employees are being trained in our company for modern jobs.
